Wang Yang, in his speech, mentioned that China and the Philippines are looking at each other from across the sea as close neighbors, and their two peoples have a history of thousands of years of friendly exchange. In 1975, the Philippines and China signed a landmark diplomatic relations communications agreement, successfully building a bridge of friendship and cooperation. With the joint efforts of both sides, and the overall stable development of relations between China and the Philippines, great progress was made in cooperation in various fields. In October last year, Chairman Xi Jinping and President Rodrigo Duterte had a landmark meeting, opening a new chapter in the relations between China and the Philippines, and promoting lasting pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

He stressed that China and the Philippines are steadfast neighbors. Although the relations between the two countries have experienced some bumps along the way, the neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation has always been the overall theme. Historical diplomatic ties of over 42 years have provided the following enlightenment: Being a good neighbor, a good friend, and a good partner is the only correct choice. As long as both parties believe in mutual faith and righteousness, firmly move forward on the road of reconciliation, stay on the path of neighborly friendship, and expand common interests and pragmatic cooperation through dialogues and consultations to properly manage their differences, the relations between China and the Philippines will continue to stride forward.

“My visit to the Philippines is a journey of friendship and also of cooperation. The core task is to implement the consensus of two national leaders’ meeting and push forward the collaboration in all sectors of our two countries.” Mr. Wang encouraged the enterprises to take the good opportunities of the good timing between the two countries, especially the small and medium-sized enterprises, to expand the bilateral business relations to a more spacious area and to a higher degree.

Mr. Wang also paid a visit to Sta. Ana Pier and Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City.
