Development of the Silk Road Economic Belt: Intensification of Cooperation Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, April 25  

 

The Belt and Road Initiative was originated from China. Its fruits today reached the world, Bian Xuexue, Deputy Secretary General of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce told on Tuesday in Bishkek speaking at the International Forum entitled "Development of the Silk Road Economic Belt: Intensification of Cooperation". The Forum was attended by 200 government officials, experts and business leaders from Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce, Eurasian Economic Union Business Council and Presidium, Kyrgyz Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs, EEU countries and enterprises.

 

Nikishina Veronika Olegovna, member of the Board on trade of Eurasian Economic Union said, “EEU is taking an active part in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. We are making efforts with China through innovative cooperation to eliminate trade barriers between countries.” And Khristenko Viktor Borisovich, member of Presidium, President of EEU Business Council, confirmed that the close connection between EEU and China will produce positive results in the near future.

 


 

A Bishkek Declaration was issued at the Forum to promote the collaboration between the Belt and Road Initiative and EEU. The Declaration welcomes WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation and calls for international coordination in business policies and multilateral trading system for the world economic recovery. The Declaration supports SRCIC eSilkRoad and Silk Road International Development Fund for promoting Eurasian region’s economic growth. SRCIC and EEU Business Council have set up strategic partnership for joint construction of the Belt and Road. As commented by the representative from Chamber of International Commerce, the cooperation of EEU and SREB will inspire the development of the regional economy, contributing to the integration of Europe and Asia.

 


 

In 2015, Russian and Chinese leaders signed a joint statement on the interaction between the Silk Road Economic Belt and EEU which comprises of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The purpose of this Forum was to search for opportunities and prospects linking the two largest integration projects - the Eurasian Economic Union and the Silk Road Economic Belt.
