Member Updates:Tajikistan speeds the Drafting of International Commercial Arbitration Law

On July 2 2018, Shaif Said, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan had a meeting with Dr. Antony Orde Nitz from German Institute of Commercial Arbitration and Dr. Kudratov Manouchehr from the University of Gizburg. The meeting was focused on driving the drafting process of international commercial arbitration law and strengthening the cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and German arbitration institutes. Vice Chairmen of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan also attended the meeting.

The purpose of the visit was to provide professional assistance to the draft writing of the international commercial arbitration law and to discuss further cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the German Commercial Arbitration Agency.

 

Mr. Sharif said, “This is the first international arbitration cooperation in Tajikistan's history, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan will closely work with global arbitration experts to develop Tajikistan International Arbitration Law and set up Tajikistan Commercial Arbitration Institution, for the purpose of effectively settling international investment and trade disputes.
