N. China's Shanxi launches freight service through China-Laos Railway
18 Mar 2022

North China's Shanxi Province on Tuesday launched its first cargo train service through the China-Laos Railway, opening an efficient international trade link to countries and regions in Southeast Asia, reported Shanxi Daily on Wednesday.

Loaded with 50 generator sets, the train departed from Shanxi's Houma North Railway Station and is expected to exit China via the port of Mohan in southwest China's Yunnan Province before it arrives in Vientiane, Laos.

The goods of this shipment are organized by China Railway Taiyuan Group Co., Ltd., who strives to support Shanxi's efforts in building a new highland for inland China's opening-up by utilizing the connection through the China-Laos Railway and accurately responding to the Belt and Road Initiative.

In the future, as China Railway Taiyuan Group Co., Ltd. continues to organize the supply of goods for the China-Laos Railway, Shanxi should send more goods of various categories to Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and other Belt and Road countries via the China-Laos Railway.
