Spanish Diplomats visit SRCIC Beijing Office

6 July 2017, Head Spanish Economic and Commercial Counselor Mr. Sergio PrezSaiz and Trade officer from Investments and Macroeconomic Analysis Department Ms. Elena Vazquez Domingo visited SRCIC Beijing Office. SRCIC Secretary General Mr. Li Zhonghang and his assistant Ms Susan Sun, and SRCIC Deputy Secretary General Mr. Wang Yan met with the visitors from Spanish Embassy in Beijing.

SRCIC Beijing Office is in the original Song Zhu Temple, an imperial lamasery of 300 years old. Mr. Li Welcomed the Spanish diplomats to this historical place and introduced the SRCIC and its connection with Spanish culture.

 

As one of the advanced countries in modern Europe, Spain establishes its competitive economy on renewable energy, aviation, agriculture, chemistry, medicine, and biotechnology. By last year, Spain became the fastest growing country in its export to China.

 

Mr. Li added: Chinese people are impressed with the rich history and colorful culture of Spain. In 2015, we organized an activity, a concert of One Silk Road and Two Cities, at Silk Road International Expo in Xi'an. The striking Flamenco Dance was loved by all.

 

Mr. Li also introduced the Silk Road Business Summit and the international culture week to be held in Xi'an in September 2017. Mr. Li invited the Spanish officials to the meeting and the Spanish visitors accepted the invitation with pleasure.

 

During the meeting, Mr. PrezSaiz talked about the Spanish sustainable economy and its supportive business environment by introducing Spanish employment, exports, tax policies, public sector, and the reform of the financial regime. He presented the Spanish FDI data from 2012 to 2015 and the industry trends for investment.

 

He emphasized that, in terms of the global platform for business and investment, Spain is the second only after China with the most developed network of high-speech railway. Spain has the core technology in infrastructure, transportation, and information communication.  

 

Ms. Domingo introduced the Spanish Embassy in Beijing and the important business associations in Spain.

 

Mr. PrezSaiz described the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing on 14 May this year and Spanish Prime Minister Rajoy was invited for participation. He spoke highly of SRCIC delegation to the Forum and was glad to see SRCIC is gaining world attention. He hoped to have a chance to meet SRCIC Chairman Mr. Lu when he goes to Xi'an.
