Ambassadors laud BRI's role in boosting win-win cooperation
14 Sep 2023

The Belt and Road Initiative China proposed 10 years ago has achieved tangible results and boosted win-win cooperation between China and participating countries, said ambassadors to China.

On Tuesday, ambassadors and diplomats from 18 countries, including Pakistan, Laos, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, paid a visit to the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body.

They visited an exhibition to learn the history of the CPPCC and China's consultative democracy, and participated in a thematic forum with CPPCC National Committee members to exchange views on the role of consultation in deepening Belt and Road cooperation.

Moin ul Haque, Pakistan's ambassador to China, said the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the flagship project of the BRI, has transformed Pakistan's social economic landscape and brought tangible benefits to its people.

The BRI paved with the principles of peaceful coexistence, good neighborliness and win-win cooperation has also brought nations together in harmony, transcending differences and working towards shared prosperity, he said.

Lao Ambassador to China Khamphao Ernthavanh said the BRI has created the chance for improvement of transportation, infrastructure, and technical systems, which is crucial for the social economic development for small countries.

"We strongly believe that the BRI will bring more opportunities for the participating countries around the world," she said, adding that the China-Laos Railway opened in 2021 is a landmark high-quality Belt and Road Initiative project that boosts the development of Laos.

Farhod Arziev, ambassador of Uzbekistan to China, said the BRI is playing an important role for many countries, including Uzbekistan, driving the partners to flourish in extended areas such as health, green, culture and digital.

Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, said neighboring countries are the primary partners of the BRI, and China will always adhere to the policy of good neighborliness and partnership with neighboring countries.

He said China will continue to work hand in hand with neighboring countries to jointly discuss, build, and share the Belt and Road Initiative, making new contributions to common development, prosperity, and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
