15 Nov 2023

Eight experts from Pakistan, Thailand, Ethiopia and Tanzania, will visit China as the first group of visiting scholars from Belt and Road countries who will focus on satellite remote sensing, weather forecasting, climate prediction and aviation meteorology.

They will come to China for a one-year study and exchange program, the China Meteorological Administration said on Monday.

In September, the administration, Ministry of Education and Peking University launched the Belt and Road meteorological visiting scholars program. They announced the recruitment of outstanding talents from the meteorological and hydrological government departments of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

These talents will specialize in satellite meteorology, numerical weather forecasting, climate change, and disaster prevention and reduction. They will come to China for further study and contribute to the technological innovation of Fengyun weather satellites.
